Corvettes at Sunset Hills 2012 Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (ET) Purcellville, VA Free State Corvette Club and Mr. Mike Canney cordially invite you to join the festivities on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Sunset Hills Vineyard near Purcellville, VA. This is a special event to celebrate the Chevrolet Corvette, set in the beauty of the rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley overlooking a unique landscape with the bold tastes of the Sunset Hills Wines. This special event is by invitation only and limited to the first 100 Corvettes to register. Update! We finally had a really nice day for our trip to Sunset Hills. The last 2 trips have been either cold, windy, damp or all the above. Not this time. The sun was out temps were in the 70’s. Perfect weather for having a glass or 2 of wine. FCCC members met at our usual RT340 spot for the ride down. We grabbed 3 picnic tables and laid out a spread of snacks to share. There was a Corvette related crossword puzzle handed out to groups of attendees. The first group to complete the puzzle won a box of hats and Corvette knowledge bragging rights. And guess who has some new hats? The group of FCCC members! We were the 1st to complete and only group to get it done honestly. We found the puzzle on an I phone Not that we needed it. The event ended around 4 pm and there is a rumor going around that one our members might have hit 180mph on the way back. With another close behind. All I can confirm is one of the suspect cars was blue and one was red. And soon after, there was a deputy sheriffs car parked along 340 watching for the next one. |

Indy Corvette Pace Car-
INDIANAPOLIS - A 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will lead the starting field of the 96th Indianapolis 500 to the green flag Sunday, May 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With 638 horsepower, the Corvette ZR1 is the most powerful production car ever to pace the race.
This will be the 23rd time a Chevrolet has paced "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" and the 11th time a Corvette is serving as the Pace Car. Both are event records. The 2013 model year will mark the 60th anniversary and the final year of production for the current generation Corvette.
The 96th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to start at noon (ET) Sunday, May 27. The driver of the Pace Car will be announced soon.

The National Corvette Museum is the host site as the ZR-1 Net Registry http://www.zr1netregistry.com/, and the Grand Sport Registry http://www.grandsportregistry.com/, present the C4 Gathering. Open to all those interested in the 4th Generation Corvette, these two organizations are working to bring participants activities, seminars, and information specific to their interest in this generation of Corvette.

Corvette Caravan 2014 Info for the Mid Atlantic
DC, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia
Caravan '09 left me a few lessons. This time we will once again take a 2 day trip, but rather than have the first day a short easy run and rush the second day to get to Bowling Green in time to get badges we will stop in Charleston, WV for the the night (MicroHotel - not set yet). No stops will actually be confirmed until 2014 but same pit stops are planned.

Lake for a lunch "pit stop" (Unos?), then on to WV with a
fuel/rest stop just at the WV line in Weston, WV, on to Charleston
for the night. 2 Chevy dealers may help us. Leave Thursday morning
after breakfast, quick run to Huntington, WV, then to Lexington KY,
Elizabethtown, KY (all Chevy dealer "pit Stops") ending of
course in Bowling Green. If you wish you may join up at any point
along the way.
